About the opportunity…

As an integral part of the “we can do that” operation, and as the leader of the Finance/Accounting Team, this position is responsible for monitoring the financial health of the operation.  Specifically:

  • Process accounts payables and receivables, including OEM payables, visa transactions, on demand cheques
  • Reconcile and post daily deposit
  • Process and follow-up on receivables
  • Run monthly A/R statements
  • Post warranty payments
  • Schedule cleaning
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounts payable and receivable ledgers
  • Maintain accurate accounts payable and receivable records for all internal and external accounts
  • Perform cash balancing, bank deposits and reconciliations
  • Post invoices, reconcile vendor statements and prepare cheques/EFTs, as required
  • Process vehicle purchases, verifying the accuracy of all pertinent information
  • Monitor accounts receivables aging ensuring payments are received in a timely fashion and take action to resolve accounts with late payments
  • Assist in closing month-end and year-end
  • Process and submit insurance and warranty remittances, and reconcile related schedules
  • Develop and maintain competent industry and product related knowledge 
  • Always represent the Company positively through a success-oriented and professional demeanor
  • Uphold the standards of excellence
  • Participate in meetings and training, as required
  • Perform other tasks based on management instructions and performance requirements

About you…

Ideal candidates will have a strong background and proven experience in the finance/accounting operation and department, including:

  • previous experience within an automotive and/or dealership setting is preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or equivalent, with strong technical accounting skills and understanding of accounting guidelines
  • CPA or equivalent designation is an asset, not required
  • proficiency working with ERP systems (such as CDK or Reynolds & Reynolds) and payroll management programs (Payworks, ADP or similar)
  • demonstrated track record of using Microsoft Office programs, including expert-level proficiency in Excel (including formulas, pivot tables, and data manipulation and analysis)
  • demonstrated desire to continuously develop new skills, take on new challenges and actively seek out opportunities for improvement
  • strong ability to communicate professionally (verbal and written)
  • change champion with the ability to bring new ideas, a fresh perspective, and a sense of urgency to drive accounting and operational improvements
