Prima Mazda is currently looking for a Lube Technician to join their busy Service Department. Prima Mazda is a proud member of the Zanchin Automotive Group. We are seeking an entry level apprentice who would like to help ,learn and grow within our shop.

Responsibilities and Duties

Responsibilities Include but not limited to:

  • Listens and works with the Licensed Technician who will serve as a Mentor and Training Coach to the Apprentice Technician.
  • Attends all classes and stays up to date with all assignments/tests necessary in accordance with the Ontario Motor Vehicle Apprentice Program. Regularly informs Service Manager on his/her progress in obtaining Automotive License.
  • Assists Licensed Technician with vehicle repairs and maintenance.
  • Performs the work described in the work orders efficiently and accurately, applying the Dealer’s and Manufacturer’s standards.
  • Assists Licensed Technician to diagnose vehicle problems using proper procedures.
  • Determines the cause of any defects and completes approved repairs.
  • Contacts the Parts Department to obtain the necessary parts required.
  • Inspects vehicles to determine whether additional safety or maintenance work is required or recommended according to Manufacturer Maintenance Minder System.
  • Continuously communicates with the Service Advisor and/or Shop Foreman to provide him/her with updates on Customer vehicle, to notify him/her if any additional work is required, or if the repairs cannot be completed within the prescribed time frame.
  • Documents all work performed on the work orders.
  • Road tests vehicles, when necessary.
  • Participates in all Manufacturer and Dealership training programs, attends school and events sponsored by the Manufacturer with approval from Management.
  • Keeps up-to-date on the Manufacturer’s technical bulletins.
  • Reports any defective or poorly functioning equipment to his/her Supervisor.
  • Following completion of required service, will bring vehicle to Detailing department for a thorough cleaning.
  • Reports any incident which may affect the appearance or condition of a vehicle to the Service Advisor as soon as possible.
  • Ensures that his/her Shop area is clean and free from hazards.
  • Maintains all the tools and manuals belonging to the Dealership and takes responsibility for them; returns them to the correct location, in the same condition as when he/she received them.
  • Keeps abreast of federal and provincial regulations and municipal bylaws governing matters such as the removal of hazardous waste, etc.; understands and observes them.

 

 

Qualifications and Skills

 

  • A valid Driver's License with a clean driving abstract.
  • Registered with the Ontario College of Trades
  • Available to work Saturday & evenings as needed.
